Program note

The title is a double meaning: in Spanish, fuga is both a flight and a fugue. The piece moves from harmonic tension into contrapuntal escape, and the two soloists behave less like a duo than like a single argument split in two voices, driven by the string orchestra behind them.

Written for and dedicated to the brothers Pablo and Alberto Martos.
