Lux Aeterna (for orchestra)
Orchestra · 5 minutes · 2022
2222 / 4231 / synth / strings
Premiere
Ohio Valley Symphony, François López-Ferrer, conductor; Gallipolis, OH (September 13, 2023)
Program note
Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine — “May eternal light shine on them, Lord.” The Requiem’s most consoling text, set here as a single five-minute arc of light.
Dedicated to the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to anyone who suffered without someone by their side.
Performance note
The synth part is optional. The preferred instrument is a Moog analog synth, but any sub synth can be used, as long as the sound is pleasing to the ear and felt more than it is heard.
